Using Baidu WiFi Hotspot

The installation process was swift, and the lightweight program started creating a hotspot as soon as we completed the process and launched it. For the program to create a WiFi hotspot, we had to turn on WiFi on our computer and connect it to the Internet. It provided a WiFi name and password for our computer, which we could change by clicking on the pen symbol that appeared when we placed the cursor over them.

The WiFi name box gave us a drop-down list with six different names, and we could type our own preferred name. We could also change the password using five characters only as the program uses WEP security. Both WiFi name and password were case sensitive.

The green-themed user interface was simple and provided few self-explanatory options. In addition to WiFi name and password, the program displayed the created WiFi mode on the upper part of the application window while on the lower side were links for stopping WiFi, restarting WiFi, getting files from phone and sending files to phone.

Baidu WiFi hotspot proved user-friendly. For example, sending a file to a phone was as easy as dragging and dropping the file onto the interface that appeared when we clicked the send link.

We could make a few configurations, such as:

• Choosing the interface language
• Specifying folder for saving files received from phone
• Receiving notification when devices connect to the hotspot
• Choosing Internet sharing mode between NAT and ICS
